The Newsroom clip was very well put together. Notice the way the light is used to indicate a new perspective. Notice how the sound was dulled and slowed to emphasize the insanity of the bias the others carry. Notice his desire to not engage until pushed into divulging the truth. This is not about right or wrong, but just "What IS". This is stepping out of the chaos and looking from a perspective that is informed, articulate, and open to the truth of "what IS." Eric, thanks for sharing this clip and your passion to open our minds and offer a new perspective.
We all have to remember that this is Hollywood. Aaron Sorkin knows how to exploit us both cognitively and affectively and when you combine that with Daniel's performance, the photography, audio, soundtrack, and editing, there's going to be more of a punch. That said, this intro to the series at least gets an audience to consider that not all that is the news IS the news. Thanks for your comment.
